Infomercials that have had a supreme influence on me as a person. I generally try to avoid shaking my fists and yelling "Kids these days!" But I feel sad about future generations who only watch TV online and will probably not be exposed to the beautiful artistry of infomercials. When I see that they sell "As Seen on TV" products at drugstores, I get angry and start to pine for the good old days when you could only get this stuff for a low low price of $19.95 plus shipping and handling.

Hawaii Chair

It's a good thing the internet exists, otherwise I would spend the rest of my life staring off wistfully into the distance wondering if the Hawaii Chair was real or just a dream. The entire concept here is a motorized desk chair that forces you to pretend you're doing the hula while you work. Although this product was completely misguided, it capitalized on two things most infomercial viewers (i.e. elderly people) love: exercising without making an effort and tourism culture.
